In The Beginning
Kitchen Gourmet was born in December of 1980 and is proud to be celebrating its 29th anniversary this year. Originally established as a home-based business, we took baby steps in reaching our present position within the community. In 1983 Kitchen Gourmet occupied its first commercial kitchen in Annandale, Virginia. We actually entered into a barter agreement with Central Fairfax Services, where we taught numerous mentally challenged adults the basics of food preparation and in return we had use of their commercial facility. It was a three year relationship that will never be forgotten.
Finding A New Home
In 1986, Kitchen Gourmet moved to the Build American 7 in Woodbridge, Virginia. Twenty-three years later we remain at this same location, although much has changed. We now occupy all 3600 square feet (2,200 kitchen with the remainder being our commissary). We presently employ two full-time chefs (both holding degrees from Stratford Culinary University) as well as a full-time catering staff of fifteen. We also have numerous part-time and on-call servers and bartenders.
Our Specialty
Kitchen Gourmet specializes in the preparation, presentation and serving of fine food. We have extensive experience in providing all imaginable meal types for a variety of event styles with the number of guests ranging from 10 to 5,000. Kitchen Gourmet is best known for creative presentation of buffets, appetizers, barbecues, and plated meals. We recognize that the food we serve must not only be fresh and delicious, it must be present in a manor that compliments our client’s style and goals of each particular event.
Food Variety
Our standard menus are comprised of all types of cuisines including, American, Italian, Asian, Spanish and others. We have also opened a new division - Shawn’s Smokehouse Barbecue, featuring some of the most incredible barbecue you have ever tasted!
Serving Commercial, Government and Residential Clients
Kitchen Gourmet has worked with Prince William County for more than 23 years. For the past nine years we have held the catering contract for Prince William County catered events. We also maintain contracts with DEA, US Marines, Prince William County Schools, Arlington County, Fairfax County, NOVA, The Water Authority as well as local corporations from Comcast and ATCC.
Giving Back To The Community
Kitchen Gourmet has always believed in giving back to the community. Only a short time after the relocation our business to Prince William County, we joined the Chamber of Commerce. Our first mission was to put together a gala featuring Robert Goulet. This was a 100% volunteer catering venture that was a great experience! Over the years, we have been involved in many fundraising events and have made numerous donations to a variety of organizations, both county and statewide. We also donate food regularly to area homeless shelters. Several Prince William County Library foundation galas have been catered by us at no charge, allowing proceeds to go to the organization. In 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 Kitchen Gourmet provided food for 14 hours for the local Relay for Life. We collected in excess of $4,000 which we donated back to the Relay for Life. We have also donated tables, chairs and a box truck to the Park West Lions Club.
We Enjoy What We Do
A love of good food and the desire to make people happy was the original goal of Kitchen Gourmet. Twenty nine years later, the only thing that has changed is the number of people that we have had the pleasure to make happy!
